Director of Counseling

Conduct Expectations: 

In pursuit of our mission to support individuals and children in their efforts to live free from domestic violence, the agency’s philosophical underpinnings must be embedded in every aspect of our work.  This includes being thoughtful about verbal and nonverbal communication, believing what survivors have to say, and diligently practicing strength-based advocacy, role modeling openness and nonviolent conflict resolution, and placing the concept of “empowerment” at the center of all our services.  The overarching emphasis informing every worker’s job performance must be to place the needs of the individuals and children we serve first.

Position Summary:

The Director of Counseling will oversee, plan, and direct the day to day operations of the counseling program. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the delivery of clinical programming, including individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention and management. Review of clinical documentation including assessments and treatment planning, clinical supervision and training to staff. Grant writing, managing budgets, and quarterly reporting skills needed.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Education:          Masters Degree is Social work, LCSW or higher required


  • Minimum 3 years’ working with adult individuals & children experiencing trauma. Fluency in Trauma Informed Care practices preferred.
  • Strong clinical and program development skills
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Working with Domestic Violence victims in a Residential, and Non-Residential setting preferred.

Working hours: Regular business hours, nights and weekends required as per program needs.

Salary: $40,000 to $50,000 annually, based on experience

Location: Poughkeepsie, New York (required travel around Dutchess County)
