Domestic Violence Outreach

Advocate Supervisor – Full-Time (40 hours)

The Advocate Supervisor supervises program advocates to ensure that comprehensive and quality services are provided to victims of domestic violence and other violent crimes. The Advocate Supervisor also provides court and other service advocacy to victims of domestic violence, including information, assistance in completing petitions, accompaniment and liaison services. Maintains appropriate records and statistics.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in human service related major or two years of equivalent experience; One year of direct advocacy services experience; one year of supervisor experience; must have a clean, valid NYS driver license.

Domestic Violence Shelter Services

Shelter Manager – Full-time (40 hours)
Mon.-Fri., days, some evenings and weekends

Responsibilities: The Shelter Manager is responsible for the daily operation and management of Equinox’s 30-bed emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. Core duties include monitoring compliance to state regulations and funding requirements; administering program policies and procedures; overseeing training and development of staff; and program development to enhance client services. Works closely with the leadership team of Equinox DVS to develop a well-coordinated, comprehensive domestic violence program.

Qualifications: Associates degree and 5 years of human services experience OR bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in human services OR 7 years of human service experience. Minimum two years of supervisory experience. One year residential preferred. Experience with domestic violence, mental health and/or substance abuse populations helpful. Valid NYS driver’s license.

Residential Counselor - 3 Positions:

  1. Full-Time (40 hours) Overnight – Wed. – Sun., 12:00am-8:30am
  2. Part-Time (20 hours) – Sat. – Sun., 1:30pm-12:00am
  3. Part-Time (20 hours) – Sat. – Sun. 7am-5:30pm

We are looking for Residential Counselors for our Domestic Violence Shelter. Responsibilities include answering 24-hour hotline, shelter intake and crisis intervention, shelter support duties.

Qualifications: Prior Human Services or equivalent experience, residential services experience preferred. Skills and Abilities: Must be compassionate, organized, work independently and sensitive to domestic violence issues. Must have a clean, valid NYS driver license.

Agency Cook – Full-time (40 hours)
Mon., Thur., Fri.: 8:00am-4:30pm, Tue., Wed.: 10:00am-6:30pm.

Responsibilities: Meal planning and preparation for multiple programs within Equinox. The Cook plans menus; orders food and required materials; supervises the kitchen, including the Kitchen Assistant; prepares meals; completes and submits required paper work; and maintains the kitchen in good and sanitary condition. Ensures food and kitchen equipment budget are consistent with agency budget.

Qualifications: High school graduate, culinary school or 2 years commercial or institutional cooking preferred. Experience cooking for large groups. Knowledge of Meal preparation, food safety and sanitation procedures.
