Bilingual Case Manager

Position Summary:

The Bilingual Case Manager is responsible for providing direct services to domestic violence survivors. The position will respond primarily to the practical case management needs of the client, advocating for them on DCFS, court, police, medical, housing, employment, and immigration needs. Help clients create and periodically review safety planning, risk assessment, goal setting and service plans.

The Bilingual case manager will meet with clients on a regular schedule; provide emotional support, information, advocacy and referrals. Maintain client records and information in accordance with agency policy, to include utilizing the agency database. Participate in team meetings, supervision and other agency meetings, as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:                  
Four year degree and/or life experience working with domestic violence survivors

Experience:               
Background in case management within a human service program; residential experience preferred.

Specialized Skills:     

  • Fluency in Spanish and a good understanding of Latino culture;
  • Basic Computer Literacy
  • Valid Drivers License, operation of company vehicle required

Salary:
$27,000 to $32,000 Depending on experience

Community Educator

Position Summary:

The Community Educator will be responsible for engaging Health Care providers in Dutchess County in awareness and prevention of Domestic Violence. The Community Educator will be responsible for engaging middle and high school youth administrators, staff, and parents within the Dutchess County Public Education System while also continuing to engage students.

Job Responsibilities: 

  1. Educate health care providers, school youth administrators, staff and parents about Domestic Violence.
  2. Attend mandatory trainings as scheduled and satisfactorily complete certification program around strategy based curriculums to be used in youth education prevention program that has been identified by management.
  3. Some nights and weekends required
  4. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:        
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree along with

Experience:      

  • Direct work experience with domestic violence survivors or youth education programs.
  • Experience working with children required
  • Experience with public speaking skills a plus. Ability to respect and work with diverse groups.
  • Experience facilitating and engaging groups (assemblies and small groups)
  • Background in a human service program and/or education.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Specialized Skills:           
    • Basic computer literacy.

Family Court Advocate

Position Summary: The Family Court Advocate will provide Dutchess County Family Court Advocacy Services at the Dutchess County Office of Probation and Community Corrections and Dutchess County Family Court, 50 Market Street, Poughkeepsie, New York.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide information to victims of domestic violence about the court system, and advise them about options available and potential consequences of their decisions.  If the Victim Advocate is not available, another informed counselor/advocate must provide this service.
  2. Help victims formulate petition when the victim/petitioner chooses to continue the Family Court process.
  3. Enter completed petitions into the Family Court computer system.
  4. Accompany the petitioner to court when requested and when possible to do so.
  5. Provide, as needed, counseling and information about domestic violence services available for the entire family.
  6. Work with victims to develop a safety plan, provide emotional support, crisis intervention, advocacy and referrals to shelter and/or other services.
  7. Maintain demographic and statistical information as requested by the County for reporting requirements.
  8. Participate in agency meetings, supervision and trainings as assigned.
  9. Maintain agency database as required for reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:        

Bachelor’s degree preferred in related fields, but 3 years of relevant experience will be considered.

Experience:      

Counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, and related work experience required.
Experience working with domestic violence survivors preferred.

Specialized Skills: 

Computer Literacy.

Working hours:

20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5 pm. This position supports the full time Family Court Advocate and there is an expectation that work schedule will be flexible to meet agency needs.

Domestic Violence Family Advocate – Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse

Position Summary: The DV Family Advocate will function as a consultant to the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center (CAC).  The DV Family Advocate will provide information and referrals to those working with domestic violence victims and their children.  They will provide crisis counseling, advocacy and other direct services to clients of the CPCA/ CAC as requested.  The DV Family Advocate is expected to foster cooperative relationships with child welfare staff, parent education staff and domestic violence service providers.  The position will be supervised by the Grace Smith House Director of Children’s Services with ongoing communication with the administrative staff at the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

Job Responsibilities: 

  1. Attend ongoing CAC training pertaining to child welfare protocol.
  2. Act as a consultant to the CAC/ CPCA to:
    1. Collaboratively identify gaps in services & identify and address barriers that hinder effective communication between agencies
    2. Provide expertise on the dimensions and types of domestic violence
    3. Provide cross training and in-services throughout the year
  3. Provide support, education & advocacy on DV to individuals served by the CAC/ CPCA
  4. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:            

Minimum of a Bachelors Degree with working knowledge of domestic violence (internship or work experience).  Significant                           experience working with children & families in crisis may be substituted for degree.

Experience:           

Knowledge and skills with domestic violence and crisis intervention.

Specialized Skills:  

Basic computer literacy.

Salary Range:

$29,000 to $32,000
