NYSCADV is pleased to present "Telling Our Stories: From the Page to the Stage, an evening with Zoë Flowers."

Like many young women, Zoë Flowers found herself in a dangerous relationship in her early twenties. The experience motivated her to become a catalyst for change. In 2004, she started interviewing women about their experiences with domestic and sexual violence.

From Ashes to Angel's Dust: A Journey Through Womanhood (FA2D) is the book that emerged from those interviews. Zoë, in collaboration with the The New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence will share stories from this intensely personal look at domestic/sexual violence and the road to healing. ASHES - a ChoreoDrama that uses monologues, poems and vignettes to breathe life into the original stories chronicled in Zoë’s book and includes new stories about historical oppression, the media, campus sexual assault, body image, and the journey to self-love. ASHES has had many successful performances across the country. Additionally, ASHES is being further developed through Brown University’s Research-to-Performance Method.

Zoë Flowers is an author, poet, actress, Reiki Master and seasoned domestic violence advocate. Her poetry and essays can be found in Stand Our Ground; Poems for Trayvon Martin and Marissa Alexander, and Dear Sister: Letters From Survivors of Sexual Assault and several online publications and journals.
