 the training\, 'Best Practices for Supporting Coaches in Effective Healthy
  Relationship Programming' in Troy\, NY.\n\nAs part of an ongoing statewid
 e effort\, NYSCADV will be convening training and discussions on best prac
 tices for engaging coaches and athletic directors to implement programming
  that addresses healthy and unhealthy behaviors of their athletes both on 
 and off the field.\n\nAthletic coaches play an influential role in the liv
 es of their teams and are in a unique position to positively influence how
  their young athletes think and act with regard to healthy relationship be
 haviors. This training will present information in a train-the-trainer for
 mat and promotes programs such as Coaching Boys into Men and Athletes as L
 eaders (designed for female athletes) that promote respect\, consent and b
 ehaviors and attitudes associated with building healthy relationships as w
 ell addressing unhealthy and dangerous dating behaviors such as coercion\,
  control and the use of physical force.\n\nInformation shared during this 
 day long training include the latest research on dating violence in middle
  school\, high schools and campuses\, as well as resources that support co
 aches to promote respectful behavior among their players and help prevent 
 relationship abuse\, harassment\, and sexual assault. Resources like Coach
 ing Boys into Men and Athletes as Leaders help coaches to incorporate them
 es associated with teamwork\, integrity\, fair play\, and respect into the
 ir daily practice and routines.\n\nTogether we will explore strategies tha
 t:\n\nPromote healthy relationships\nCreate school climates in which viole
 nce is unacceptable\nReduce known risk factors for violence perpetration\n
 Promote protective factors that contribute to healthy behaviors\, safety &
