 ake it especially difficult to access the court system.\n\nIn New York Sta
 te\, earlier changes to the statute allow victims of domestic and sexual v
 iolence to obtain orders of protection by video-conference. Passed several
  years ago\, the legislation permits participation in ex parte hearings on
  the record for temporary orders of protection with a judge or court attor
 ney referee. This has filled an important need in the rural parts of the s
 tate. A crucial component of the service is that advocates travel to meet 
 victims in safe locations so as to provide access to videoconference equip
 ment\, as well as advocacy services. \n\nThis webinar will highlight the w
 ays in which the remote e-filing process has increased access to justice f
 or victims\, how courts and advocates have collaborated to successfully im
 plement the program\, and how challenges have been addressed.  \n
