X-WR-CALDESC:This 60-minute workshop is designed to help parents and other 
 concerned adults talk to children and teens about the historical trauma fa
 ced by African-Americans and how this has influenced current civic unrest 
 over police brutality and racism. It takes a psychoeducational approach an
 d provides practical ideas to stimulate adult thinking about what strategi
 es might work best with a particular family. Ideas are discussed that can 
 support resilient development and a sense of agency for ending racial trau
 ma. The format of the webinar is to provide 30-minutes of informational ma
 terial followed by a 30-minute question and answer period.\n\nAfter partic
 ipating attendees will be able to: integrate issues of the historical trau
 ma faced by the African-American community into their discussions of curre
 nt events\; integrate an understanding of child development into their dis
 cussions of traumatic events with children and teens\; and\, analyze a fam
 ily's needs and plan a variety of actions to process traumatic events. Thi
 s workshop is intended to facilitate discussions led by trusted adults wit
 h children and teens- it is not therapy.\n
