 e. However\, we cannot ignore the numerous headlines\, arrests\, convictio
 ns\, and lawsuits describing horrific acts of sexual misconduct perpetrate
 d by law enforcement officers.  When a predatory sexual offender has the p
 ower and authority of the police\, this creates an extremely serious breac
 h of the ethics of the profession\, a violation of the color of law\, and 
 a traumatic victimization of a colleague or citizen whom law enforcement h
 as sworn to protect.  \n\nThrough an examination of case studies and after
 -action reviews\, the presenter will discuss the need for policy to proact
 ively confront law enforcement sexual misconduct as well as introduce a ne
 w EVAWI resource titled: “Model Policy Resource: Law Enforcement Sexual Mi
 sconduct Prevention and Accountability.”\n\nOBJECTIVES\nAs a result of thi
 s webinar\, participants will be better able to:\n\nUnderstand the prevale
 nce of law enforcement sexual misconduct and the impact on public trust.\n
 Define law enforcement sexual misconduct to assist in preventing and addre
 ssing the wide range of behaviors that can include both criminal and noncr
 iminal conduct.\nRecognize the role that department policy can play in pub
 lic trust\, and law enforcement sexual misconduct prevention and accountab
 ility.\nUtilize the EVAWI “Model Policy Resource: Law Enforcement Sexual M
 isconduct Prevention and Accountability” as a tool to assist in the develo
 pment of a department policy\, or to enhance a current policy.
