X-WR-CALDESC:New York State continuously has the highest demand for domesti
c violence services in the country. Thousands of survivors of domestic vio
lence and their families receive services each day. Tragically\, thousands
more are unable to receive help due to insufficient funding and inaccessi
bility to services or housing. Survivors and DV agencies have sounded the
alarm for years\, but New York State has failed to respond. As a result\,
DV services across the state are at a tipping point\, with hundreds of age
ncy vacancies and little to no ability to fill them. If the situation does
not change\, the unmet needs of survivors will continue to grow. New York
 ’s survivors deserve more. \n\nMark your calendars for Tuesday\, May 2nd a
nd join the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSCADV) i
n Albany for our 2023 Day of Action. We’re counting on YOU – survivors\, a
dvocates\, coalition and community partners\, legislators\, and community
members – to raise your voices. Let the State know that it must invest in
DV services.\n\nThere is no better time than 2023 Day of Action to sound t
 he alarm. This year’s event will feature a purple-themed rally\, a march t
hrough the Capitol\, and a press conference on the Million Dollar Staircas
 e. Uplifting the voices of survivors\, DV programs and community partners
the rally serves as a call to action for increased to DV funding\, living
wages for all DV advocates\, contract reform\, and equity practices.\n\nIn
preparation\, NYSCADV will host a virtual teach-in series to provide part
icipants with skills and background information. The teach-in series will
be recorded for those who prefer to watch at alternative times. \n\nSurviv
ors cannot wait. DV programs are no longer sustainable. Can we count on yo
u to spread the word? \n\nWho Should Attend: Everyone is welcome to attend
. We highly encourage survivors\, domestic violence program staff\, sexual
assault program staff\, crime victim program staff\, legal services staff
\, coalition and community partners\, and community members to attend.
