Your Story Is Part of NYSCADV’s Story

As NYSCADV looks ahead to our 50th anniversary in the coming years, we are reflecting on the people, partnerships, and collective efforts that have shaped this movement across New York State.

For nearly five decades, NYSCADV has worked alongside advocates, survivors, domestic violence programs, community partners, former staff, and movement leaders to advance safety, healing, justice, and prevention. This history does not live only in reports, timelines, or archived documents. It lives in the stories of the people who have carried this work forward.

As part of this reflection, we are launching the NYSCADV Storytelling Project to gather stories from those who have been impacted by NYSCADV’s mission, vision, advocacy, training, technical assistance, partnerships, and statewide leadership.

We want to hear from you.

Whether you are an advocate, survivor, partner, former staff member, board member, funder, volunteer, or community member, your experience matters. Your story can help us honor where we have been, understand the impact of this work, and imagine what is possible for the future.

We invite you to share reflections such as:

How has NYSCADV supported your work, growth, healing, or advocacy?

What moments, people, trainings, campaigns, or partnerships stand out to you?

How has NYSCADV’s work helped shape domestic violence advocacy in your community?

What do you hope future generations of advocates and survivors know about this movement?

These stories may be used to support historical documentation, anniversary reflections, public awareness, advocacy, fund development, training, and future storytelling efforts. We will approach every submission with care and respect, and we will not share identifying information without permission.

As we begin preparing to honor 50 years of movement-building, we know this milestone belongs to the entire community. Thank you for helping us preserve the history, heart, and impact of this work.
