Healing in Adulthood-NYSCASA
Please join NYSCASA for a series of virtual workshops with Leah Green and Cat Fribley at the Resource Sharing Project about healing from child sexual abuse and how advocates and other survivor-supporting professionals can better serve adult survivors of child sexual abuse.
The intended audience for these workshops includes NYSCASA Rape Crisis Program Members, NYSCASA Ally Organization and Individual Members, Advocates, Counselors, Allied Organizations, and Coalitions.
Workshop 2: Healing in Adulthood

The role of an advocate is to help survivors of sexual violence navigate healing. To help survivors move from a place of fear, confusion, and stagnation towards a goal they have set for themselves- stronger relationships, a reconnection to culture or spirituality, or maybe a peace within themselves. But what does that look like in practicality? And how, as an advocate, can you help?
Join NYSCASA and the Resource Sharing Project for an interactive conversation about healing in adulthood. Topics we will be addressing include: How do adult survivors of child sexual abuse incorporate their body in the healing process? How are spirituality and culture tied to healing? How does building community help adult survivors of child sexual abuse heal? Please join us for an interactive session to share and learn more.
This session will be conducted and spoken in English. Please indicate in the registration form if you have specific access needs, so that we can accommodate. These requests are due by June 2, 2022.
About the Guest Speakers
Leah Green is originally from Eastern Iowa and earned a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and Studio Art from Cornell College. She has been involved in the anti-violence movement since 2010 working for several centers across Iowa as an advocate and prevention educator. At the Resource Sharing Project, she provides training and technical assistance to state coalitions and rural dual-service programs across the country on issues related to creating sustainable sexual assault services.
Cat Fribley directs the Resource Sharing Project (RSP) for the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Through this project she provides capacity building training and technical assistance to state and territorial sexual assault coalitions, SASP administrators, OVW grantees, and others, as well as coordinating the national activities of the project. She has worked to end sexual and domestic violence for 25+ years at national, state, and local advocacy organizations. Cat trains on a broad range of sexual assault issues with special interest areas including survivors giving birth, healing sexuality, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, and queer issues.
