Session Description
This course is designed to build the skills that are essential to ensuring you hire the right person, for the right reasons. Hiring mistakes can cost an organization in many ways, and this course re-focuses the hiring process away from subjective “likeability” assessments to objective investigations into desired behaviors. This course provides the manager with the ability to effectively match the key responsibilities of a role to organizational values and behavior which will make the ideal candidate successful in the role, and then build an interview process which selects for these things.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
· Connect job responsibilities to values and behaviors
· Ask values-based questions that reveal alignment
· Ask behavior-based questions that reveal real experience
· Evaluate responses with greater consistency and fairness
· Avoid common interview traps
· Explain how each law impacts your role as a supervisor
Series Description
The HR Development Training Series is designed to strengthen the foundational human resources knowledge and supervisory practices needed to support effective, consistent, and values-aligned workplaces. This series explores key HR-related responsibilities that often shape the supervisor experience, including employment law, values-based hiring, performance management, professionalism, team motivation, documentation, coaching, and accountability.
Through practical, skill-building sessions, participants will gain tools to help them make informed decisions, communicate expectations clearly, support staff growth, and respond to common workplace challenges with fairness and consistency. This series is ideal for supervisors, managers, and emerging leaders who want to deepen their understanding of HR practices and strengthen their ability to lead teams in alignment with organizational values, legal responsibilities, and workplace culture.
Participants are encouraged to attend the full series to gain the most comprehensive learning experience; however, attendance at every session is not required. Each session is designed to stand on its own, allowing participants to register for the topics most relevant to their role and learning needs.
